ABSTRAK Pembangunan ekonomi merupakan salah satu kegiatan ekonomi yang diharapkan dapat menciptakan perekonomian yang stabil dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi daerah tertentu. Pertumbuhan ekonomi di Kabupaten Blora dapat dilihat dari nilai Produk Domestik Regional Bruto (PDRB). Nilai PDRB Kabupaten Blora tahun 2010-2014 mencapai Rp. 12.227.201,29 dengan sumbangan terhadap PDRB Provinsi Jawa Tengah sebesar 1,65%. Sektor dominan di Kabupaten Blora yaitu sektor pertanian yang memberikan kontribusi sebesar 25,48%, sektor pertambangan dan penggalian sebesar 14,55%, sektor industri pegolahan sebesar 10,97% dan sektor perdagangan besar dan eceran sebesar 18,27%. Apabila diamati laju pertumbuhan sektor pertanian mengalami penurunan presentase selama 5 tahun berturut-turut dalam memberikan kontribusi terhadap PDRB Kabupaten Blora. Tujuan penelitian untuk menentukan sektor unggulan di Kabupaten Blora menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan location quotient (LQ), shift-share, tipologi klassen dan overlay. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sektor unggulan di Kabupaten Blora yaitu sektor pendidikan dan sektor penyediaan akomodasi dan makan minum. Peningkatan sarana dan prasarana penunjang pendidikan seperti ruang kelas yang digunakan proses belajar mengajar agar dapat menarik minat masyarakat luas untuk belajar di sekolah dan perguruan tinggi di Kabupaten Blora. Strategi pengembangan sub sektor hotel dan restoran di Kabupaten Blora diantaranya peningkatan sarana dan prasarana hotel dan melakukan promosi tentang restoran dan hotel yang dimiliki oleh perusahaan. Economic growth in district Blora can be seen from the regional gross domestic product (gdp). The gdp district Blora 2010-2014 Rp. 12.227.201,29 with contributions to the gdp central java of 1,65%.
