Agus Romadhon., SP., M.Si ABSTRAK Pulau Gili Genting merupakan kawasan yang memiliki ekosistem terumbu karang. keberadaan ekosistem tersebut memiliki potensi di bidang ekowisata bahari. Potensi tersebut jika dikembangkan dengan baik, dapat memberikan dampak positif terhadap masyarakat Pulau Gili Genting. Untuk membuktikan dan mengembangkan potensi tersebut diperlukan analisa tentang kesesuaian Pulau Gili Genting sebagai kawasan ekowisata. Sehingga penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas perairan, ekosistem terumbu karang dan kesesuaian kawasan ekowisata snorkeling di Pulau Gili Genting. Penelitian ini menganalisa kualitas air secara insitu, menganalisis ekosistem terumbu karang dengan LIT (Line Intercept Transect), dan menghitung indek kesesuaian wisata (IKW). Hasil analisa dalam penelitian ini yaitu nilai kualitas perairan sesuai standart baku mutu untuk ekowisata dan kehidupan terumbu karang, nilai persentase tutupan karang berada pada kisaran 47.12-83.02%, ikan karang 8-9 spesies, dan indeks keseuaian wisata (IKW) di Pulau Gili Genting pada titik I, II, III, IV berada dalam kategori sesuai besyarat (SB) dan titik V dan VI berada dalam kategori sesuai (S). Under the guidance of Insafitri., ST., M.Sc., P.hD as a first lecturer and Dr. H. Agus Rmadhon., SP., M.Si as second lecturer ABSTRACT Gili Genting island is an area which has coral reefs ecosystem. The existence of that ecosystem has ecotourism potential. If that potential is well developed, it can give positive impact to Gili Genting Island’s society. In this case, an analysis about the suitability of Gili Genting Island as an ecotourism area is needed to prove and develop that potential. This study aims to know and explain the quality of waters, coral reefs ecosystem, and the suitability of the marine ecotourism potential of snorkeling in Gili Genting island. This research analyzes the coral reefs ecosystem with LIT (line Intercept Transect), and also count the index of suitability of tourism area. The result of this study shows that the value of waters quality is appropriate with the standart quality for ecotourism area and the existence of coral reefs, the percentage of the coral cover is in 47,12-83,02 %, for the reef fish is about 8-9 specieses, and index of the suitability ecotourism in Gili Genting island is in point I, II, III, IV which include into appropriate conditional category and point V, VI is in appropriate category.
